Routing is basically used to find an efficient path for sending packets from source to destination. There are several types of routing protocols, specifically aimed at establishing competent routes between source and sink nodes. An ad-hoc network is a gathering of nodes that is connected through a wireless medium forming rapidly changing topology. Ad-hoc networking provides infrastructure-free, convenient communication over a shared wireless channel. In the ad hoc network, there are various routing protocols for finding excellent routes such as AODV, DSDV, SSR, ZHLS and the like. This paper provides the outlines of these protocols by presenting the characteristics, functions, benefits, and limitations of these protocols, performs comparative analysis and analyzes the performance. This study experimentally compares the concert of three different multi-hop ad- hoc network routing protocols.
